I WISH to protest at the unjust imprisonment of Dr Fintan Lane in Limerick Prison. Dr Lane is a historian and former university lecturer.

He is the editor of Saothar, the Irish labour history journal, and the author of The Origins of Modern Irish Socialism 1881-1896.

I call on all concerned at the US military’s continuing use of Shannon to contact their politicians and local media to demand his release.
