Birds rank higher than humans

IT would seem that an Bord Pleanála values the lives of horses and birds more that those of human beings.

The health of thousands of children in the Cork Harbour area will be put at risk if Indaver build their incinerator in Ringaskiddy.

Yet an Bord Pleanála has refused permission for a wind farm in Rockchapel, Co Cork, because it may endanger the hen harrier.

We all want to protect our birds, especially endangered species, and we appreciate the value of the bloodstock in Co Tipperary.

But I, for one, cannot understand how an Bord Pleanála can decide in favour of birds and horses while deciding against the well-being of our children and grandchildren.

Margaret O’Callaghan,

The Mooring,

Monkstown,

Co Cork.
