Racism is still a winner on the field of play

I COMPLETED a project on racism recently. I was shocked to see that only 15% of soccer players in England are non-white.

Charlton Athletic’s anti-racist community campaign started over five years ago, when the club discovered that only 0.5% of its fans were non-white, although 15% of the local population are from ethnic minority groups.

Only 1% of season ticket-holders are non-white, which I think is unfair. There are no black people on the ruling council of the English FA.

The ‘Stand up, speak up’ and ‘Kick it out’ campaigns are very successful, but more work needs to be done. Racism is still a problem, so please do what you can as every little bit counts.
