Restriction is not a ban

THERE is no ‘ban’ on smoking. Everybody can smoke as much as they like, when they like. Using the word ‘ban’ is misleading. What is in place is a law that forbids smoking in designated areas.

Restriction is not a ban

This law is necessary because scientific research has proved conclusively that the carcinogenic fumes from tobacco smoke can kill or at least cause a host of debilitating illnesses to those who inhale them.

There are similar laws governing the use of firearms, insecticides, mechanically-propelled vehicles and other possibly hazardous items. Note, there is no ‘ban’ on these products either. In view of this, it would be a very inconsiderate person who would disagree with the new legislation in regard to smoking.
