Point of sale

IN YOUR issue of October 25, Michael O’Farrell questions Eddie Hobbs’ accuracy that 80% of alcohol is still purchased in pubs (page 7, second item down).

Point of sale

This conflicts with item six on the same page, which is the "undisputed" fact that of €2bn of alcohol consumption, €1.6bn is consumed in pubs 80%, unless my arithmetic is far out.

Perhaps an oversight by Michael, or a bit of his own "questionable accuracy?"

Michael O'Farrell writes: As you suggested, a simple oversight, Bill. Well spotted.
