Thank the Russians

LETTERS to the Irish Examiner recently made the point that the Americans saved us from Hitler in a moral war and we should be grateful and support them in whatever military adventure they are engaged upon at present.

I don’t wish to diminish the sacrifice of individual US and British soldiers, but if we are to be grateful to anyone, it should be the Russians. They broke the back of Hitler’s armies, but lost 20 million of their own people doing so.
