Troubling questions in suicide controversy

IN the desperately sad case of Peter McCloskey’s three children who are now without their father, the Bishop of Limerick, Dr Donal Murray, has some deeply troubling questions to answer.

Troubling questions in suicide controversy

Why did Peter have to travel to Australia for answers to questions that were available in Limerick?

What information flowed between the Australian diocesan bishop and his counterpart in Limerick when a priest with a recorded history of a “moral lapse” gained trusted access in Limerick to children and altar boys?

And most pressing of all, what process was being followed in these past weeks when the diocese of Limerick started exchanging written messages by fax, while a father of three children appears to have been running rapidly out of options and whose life we now know painfully to have been in its last days
