The postal Olympics

HAVING served for 32 years as a postman, I was very much taken aback by Communications Minister Noel Dempsey’s claim that postmen and women only work 3.5 hours per day on delivery.

Even at my peak of fitness, when representing this country at the Olympics, I could never finish my delivery in such a time. Since then postal deliveries are much heavier simply because there are more houses.

Incidentally, my reward for my long and loyal service to An Post and the country is that this State is denying me the cost of living increases in my pension.
