Restaurants will have to adjust to the smoke-free atmosphere

I HAD to laugh when I read the comments of Mr Henry O’Neill of the Restaurants Association of Ireland (Irish Examiner, Nov 8) regarding the new legislation on banning smoking in restaurants, bars and other public places.

Restaurants will have to adjust to the smoke-free atmosphere

People will just have to adapt to the changes, that is if they succeed in being introduced. And that includes ourselves, the Italians, Spanish and all the other visitors to our shores whose populations like to smoke, as Mr O'Neill suggested.

We all have to recognise the laws in whatever country we happen to be visiting. If smoking is not allowed in Irish pubs or restaurants, then people no matter who or where they come from will have to comply with those laws.
