Chirac was right

HOW can Tony Blair and George Bush justify their recent expression of satisfaction that the war has ended successfully and Iraq is free?

Chirac was right

Not only does the war still continue but the US/British liberation forces are obviously unwanted and under rocket and sniper attack from resistance forces. And to make matters even worse, the insurgents may be taking their orders from Saddam Hussein.

To invite in a UN peacekeeping force would seem the best choice now, but this would be too humiliating for Bush who ignored the UN at the outset. So the slaughter is destined to continue for a long time.

If Bush and Blair had the good sense to heed the advice of Jacques Chirac before going to war, the world would be better off today. Chirac said: “War is the confirmation of failure and always the worst solution because the human costs are too difficult to justify.”

How right he was.
