Fishery giveaway takes the biscuit

"Yes to biscuits no to Nice!," proclaimed a recent car-sticker.

A flippant comment maybe, but surely no less flippant than the view of our political establishment of the democratic choice facing us in the Nice referendum. Half a billion euro is to be spent promoting a 'yes' vote. One wonders how much of this prompted the recent cuts in the health services?

It is now 30 years since Irish fishermen were sacrificed as part of the deal to enter the EEC. How many billions have been lost to the Irish economy as a result of this give-away? This is surely something that will not get a mention from the 'yes' campaign.
