Bush chosen to join company of tyrants

I WISH to congratulate US President George W Bush on being named Time magazine's Person of the Year 2004.

Bush chosen to join company of tyrants

Mr Bush previously received the award in 2000, as did his father, the ex-president, in 1990.

Previous recipients of the award include Adolf Hitler in 1938, when he was busy plotting the invasion of Poland and the mass murder of millions of Jews, trade unionists, socialists, immigrants and political opponents.

Joseph Stalin, who received the award in 1939 and '42, tortured, starved and murdered millions of people in the old Soviet Union for decades.

Winston Churchill, who was named Time person of the year twice, was responsible for sending the Black and Tans to Ireland and vigorously defended the British Government's reprisal policy designed to oppress the Irish.

It is great to see that George W Bush's record of warmongering, torture, oppression, exploitation, pillage and corruption has earned him a fitting place among these notable tyrants, dictators, and murderers.
