I have practiced yoga since 1975 and completed a teachers diploma in 1992 and my students range in age from mid-teens to grandparents in their 70s.
While I appreciate that your “misadventure” in a style of yoga that was not suitable to you, and did not meet with your expectations, yoga is alive and well.
There are many forms of yoga and the particular style you experienced may be ashtanga vinyasa yoga or, as it is commonly known, power yoga, which is extremely physical and demanding and only suitable to those who are already fit.
Anyone considering attending a yoga course should first establish the credentials of the teacher and the style of yoga offered to ensure that it is suitable.
