We’re neutral? Try that in the Middle East

IF Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and Foreign Affairs Minister Brian Cowen continue telling us that we are neutral (politically or militarily), and we believe this as a nation, then I think we have turned down the path that George Orwell predicted — “truth is lies, war is peace, love is hate and good is evil”.

We’re neutral? Try that in the Middle East

In Iraq, 250,000 died in the 1991 invasion and 300,000 died following the uprising to overthrow Saddam at the instigation of George Bush Snr who later withdrew his offer of help and watched the dictator fill those mass graves.

From 1991 to the present day 1.5 million more succumbed to 'economic sanctions' 685,000 were children under the age of five and the incessant bombing raids between the two wars that were all but ignored by the press.
