Fluoride and tooth decay

PEOPLE without a fluoridated water supply in other countries have shown no ill effects from the exclusion of fluoride in their daily lives.

Fluoride and tooth decay

The claim that fluoride prevents tooth decay must be seen in the context of the thousands who visit the dentist to have cavities filled. The addition of fluoride in most toothpastes further dispels the idea that it is effective in the prevention of tooth decay. Manufacturers have clearly reached the conclusion that small amounts of toothpaste with fluoride added should be administered under supervision to children for oral hygiene purposes.

The decision by the Government to reduce the level of fluoride in the general water supply falls short of actual exclusion.
