Top of the class

THE resignation of Caoimhe Mairtín from Marino College in Dublin is bad news for Irish primary education. In a lifetime devoted to teaching she has been a giant of the profession, a forward thinking and zealous enthusiast for primary education.

She is held in high regard across this country and beyond as a leader of positive change.

I urge Marino College management to do everything necessary to make Caoimhe Mairtín change her mind and reinstate her as soon as possible. To do otherwise is to do a grave disservice to teacher training and primary education.
