Political health hazard

THERE are two major health hazards in Ireland — smoking and drinking. The publicans are screaming blue murder and say they will not observe the smoking ban.

How ludicrous that some of these publicans have been on regional health boards, and are now resigning in protest against the ban. Why were such people put on health boards in the first place? Obviously, their tenure could not have had the interest of public health at heart. Where are people’s priorities?
