IT is simply unthinkable that the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, and his Government, should continue to facilitate the US military at Shannon airport in the event of the imminent invasion of Iraq.

It would be criminal to assist with a war of this kind which the world understands is predicated on fraudulent claims.

The concept of a pre-emptive war is not provided for in international law. Even more reprehensible is a war designed to secure the Iraqi oil fields for US capitalism and to exert imperialist control over the Middle East.The Government would be an accomplice in the slaughter and destruction.
