Bin tags at the mercy of unpredictable forces
I can just picture people coming into work late, having to stay at home to see off their garbage and ensure the costly tag did not go missing before collection (Was it a gust of wind, a cheeky neighbour or a clever gang?).
How otherwise could they prove to the council they had paid for that week’s collection if the proof itself were to disappear?
Why not look at other countries for a system that is fairer and foolproof?
Why not charge everybody a basic amount, and then charge each family according to the number of people registered in the household?
That way everybody would be paying according to the quantity they produced.
There would be no messing around with flying tags and last-minute runs to the shop to ensure your bin did not remain full in the middle of your drive.
