Bin tags at the mercy of unpredictable forces

I WOULD like to compliment the official in Cork City Council who came up with the brilliant idea of the ‘tag a bin’ system.

I can just picture people coming into work late, having to stay at home to see off their garbage and ensure the costly tag did not go missing before collection (Was it a gust of wind, a cheeky neighbour or a clever gang?).

How otherwise could they prove to the council they had paid for that week’s collection if the proof itself were to disappear?
