McDowell has taken the craic out of us

ON holidays and long weekends, my husband, 13-year-old son and I liked to attend traditional Irish music sessions at hotels in our region.

But we haven’t been to one since the 9pm ban on children in the bars of these establishments.

Justice Minister Michael McDowell never thought about the likes of us; neither did he think of the people coming to this country on caravan holidays. What does he think they are going to do with their children at night?

The weather here is never going to attract visitors. But the real attraction for visitors is - or was - the craic and traditional music in the pubs where everyone mixed.

Mr McDowell should admit he got it wrong.
