American praise for Irish peacekeepers

AS an American with a Canadian wife and an honourable Irish history I found Mr Kee’s letter (Irish Examiner, July 30) a breath of fresh air.

It is unfortunate that so few Americans will see his letter or become acquainted with the work of Irish peacekeepers, just as so few know the work of the Canadian forces over the last half century.

Americans want peace but I think few understand the true concept, except perhaps those of us who have seen the lack of peace in places such as Vietnam, the Middle East and Latin America.
