On the contrary, they drove the PLO out of the West Bank killing thousands in the process.
It might also be worthwhile to remind the king that after Israel captured the West Bank from them in 1967, they offered to hand it back as part of a peace treaty.
That offer was rejected by the Jordanians. The same situation occurred in regard to Gaza and the Egyptians.
