Big guns are out to get our public services

IT has been quite a controversial year with regard to the privatisation of public services in this country.

Big guns are out to get our public services

State funding of public services is at a disgraceful low compared to our European neighbours. We are in fact the lowest in the EU, with only 30% of GDP being invested in public service, while the European average is 40%.

It appears to me that, once again, there is a government/media alliance in favour of privatising virtually all the essential services in our society public transport, education, health services and housing. The state must provide these essential building blocks of an accountable and representative society.
