Munster team shows Ireland the way

I WRITE as an English man to express my admiration for yet another heroic performance

Munster in the Heineken Cup — fittingly, after last year’s con-trick in Cardiff — against Leicester at Welford Road.

The forwards were outstanding and none more so than Donnacha O’Callaghan and Paul O’Connell in the second row. Their inspiring play showed what might have been possible at Lansdowne Road on another day.

These are great days, not only for Irish rugby but for Irish sport and they are especially welcome for those among us who have endured in stoical silence the many days of underachievement and disappointment at Lansdowne Road. I have no doubt myself that the Munster X-factor is MJ Galwey (Castleisland and Shannon) and I am glad to see that the magical winning formula has been passed on to a new generation of Munster players.
