My champion dad deserved a lot better

I RECENTLY recently buried my dad, Mick Meaney, the world underground champion.

Before the house fire in which he was badly burned I begged for home help as he was already in poor health, using two walking sticks. He was told he was "too able bodied. "

It's disgraceful that, after working hard all his life, for Cork in the County Council, that he was not entitled to any support in his old age.

The Minister of Health has a lot to answer for by cutting aid for home help.

I received home help for six months due to post natal depression and it was my saving grace.
