Back on parade

THE reinstatement of the traditional 1916 Easter military parade, announced by the Taoiseach at the Fianna Fáil árd fheis, is to be welcomed.

However, it is a matter of regret that the so-called republican party found it necessary to abandon the parade and its republican ethos in the first instance.

Let’s hope that this decision to embrace Pearse, Connolly, Clarke, and the rest of the signatories to the Easter Proclamation, is not just a political stunt to outmanoeuvre Sinn Féin.
