IT’S rare for an Irish sportsperson or team to set a new world record.

This happened in Belfast recently when Gillian O'Sullivan set a new 3km world indoor walking record.

Surely a little front page mention on next day's Irish Examiner would have been justified but alas, no. Just like the gold medal won last year by Sam Lynch and showjumper Dermott Lennon. Brendan Mooney, as usual, had a nice piece on the sports pages.
