WITH the planned introduction of an instant driving ban for those over the drink-driving limit, I wonder if Transport Minister Martin Cullen and his civil servants took to watching Winning Streak for inspiration?

An offending driver will have the option of an instant ban or trying his or her luck in the courts where the penalties can be much stiffer depending on circumstances.

Since when did our constitutional right to due process become a matter of whether you’re feeling lucky or not?
