One way to ensure they serve full terms — get the IRA to disown them

ON the possible release of Det Garda Jerry McCabe’s killers, I believe the Taoiseach and the Minister for Justice are being unfairly treated by the media, other politicians and the general public.

As part of the Good Friday Agreement, all political/IRA prisoners are entitled to early release. However, as most people seem to agree that the killers were actually no more than prepped-up cowboys who botched a post office raid, I would like to suggest a course of action.

Let us all contact the nearest Sinn Féin TD or councillor and urge him or her to make representation to the IRA that these thugs be declaimed as IRA prisoners. In this manner, they will not be considered political or IRA prisoners and will therefore have to serve out the full term of their sentences.
