I WAS standing by on the pavement at Merchants Quay shopping centre in Cork for the official opening of the City of Culture last Saturday.

I don't know how much I couldn't see, but what I did see, hear and feel was a truly amazing an overwhelming show of colour, light, sound and atmosphere. It was an experience I will never forget. My thanks to the inspired individuals who made it happen.
