THE volunteer Garda Reserve force is a great idea in principle.

It is so appealing I believe the Government should not stop with the gardaí. A volunteer politician corps should also be set up whereby recruits will not be paid and while training, they should not lie, take bribes or drive around in expensive cars while collecting an average €80,000 per year in expenses alone.
