It betrays the instincts of a secular pharisee with an insular notion of economics. That your correspondent from Concord, Ohio (Irish Examiner letters, April 30) should not see the rich irony of this says more about the naive calibre of support which SF is attracting these days in foreign fields. I trust he is not living buckfree himself, with no visible means of support.

Besides, some high profile politicians see no harm in taking the Queen’s shilling, barrels of euro or inter-denominational dollars to set up retirement homes in Donegal. So, at least it’s not all wasted in furthering their ambitions of freedom, other than their own, of course.
