A parent’s nightmare

AS A parent of two lovely girls – one of whom is mentally disabled – I was horrified recently to see how a 70-year-old man with the mental age of ten was set alight

My worst nightmare had become a reality. What kind of person would perpetrate such a cowardly deed?

I love my children with all my heart, and it would surely break it if such an appalling thing were ever to happen to them.

As a society we seem to have learned nothing.

Parents, love you're children for they unlike one of mine will be adults soon. Teach them kindness to others who may not be able to help, or defend, themselves.

Ireland will soon stage the Special Olympics. Perhaps this is the best time to start.

In any event, let's make the Games a great occasion for all participants. Well done to the organisers you should be proud of yourselves.
