Telling a columnist from a spindoctor

I TRUST your columnist Noel Whelan didn’t receive any remuneration for his column (Irish Examiner, Sept 9) as he quite clearly ought to be back on the Fianna Fáil payroll.

Telling a columnist from a spindoctor

That party couldn’t ask for a better spin doctor in a week when their former senior minister Ray Burke, and their financial backers, Tom Brennan and Joe McGowan, got a deserved slap in the face for their shameful and audacious behaviour.

Mr Whelan betrays his supposed political commentator status with his diatribe against the fledgling ‘Coalition for the Caring’ of Fine Gael and Labour, with or without the Greens. The country needs an alternative to this tired and bereft government.

Surely a neutral political commentator would welcome such a development, but I wonder if Mr Whelan is working to a different agenda?
