Council will put press freedom under fire
It comes hot on the heels of Justice Minister McDowell’s proposals to jail any guards who give information to journalists.
The establishment of a statutory press council would have the power to tell newspapers what they can and cannot print. This would be the end of press freedom in Ireland.
What’s really bizarre is the lack of any opposition from the media. Why don’t they kick up a fuss before it’s too late?
