THE crib or nativity scene is one of the most endearing features of the Irish Christmas tradition.

Cribs are normally erected in churches but can also be seen in town squares, village greens, shop windows, schools and foyers of public and commercial buildings.

As a student of local history I am anxious to collect information about cribs throughout Ireland this Christmas.
