THE mayor of Limerick recently complained of inertia in the Department of the Environment regarding the redrawing of boundaries for his city, causing loss to the area in favour of Galway.

Galway is erroneously being represented as the third city ahead of Limerick because of Galway’s more recently defined extensive boundary.

I would venture to suggest that Galway is generally treated as the second city in the State, although Cork’s lord mayor has not mentioned the procrastination over his city’s boundaries.
