Thanks to the town that shared our grief

RECENTLY my cousin, Mary Margaret O’Callaghan, died suddenly while visiting her friend, Sr Clair, at the convent in Midleton, Co Cork.

Thanks to the town that shared our grief

Obviously this was a shock, but we were consoled by the fact that she died as she lived, with love and dignity and among friends. On behalf of my family I thank the people of Midleton for all the prayers, warmth, love and support we experienced during our short visit to the town.

We thank Fr O’Donovan, Fr McCarthy, and the five other priests whose names I do not know, the altar boys, the scripture reader and the nuns from the local convent and from Carrigtwohill school. A big thank you also to Mary Margaret’s GP and the Legion of Mary.

We are grateful to the Wallis funeral home for their professional and sensitive handling of the situation. We thank the Coady family, all other neighbours and friends, the stewards, gravediggers and all the people who lined the street.

The staff at the Midleton Park Hotel also played a very important role in looking after the family. We very much appreciate their support.
