Selective indignation of unionists and media

I WAS appalled but not surprised by the recent racist attacks on the Donegall Road in Belfast in which three houses belonging to members of the Asian community were targeted.

Selective indignation of unionists and media

In one case a house belonging to members of the Chinese community was forcibly entered, two pregnant women were attacked and a man had a brick smashed into his face, breaking his nose.

Although the police will not officially confirm it, speculation is very strong that these vicious attacks were carried out by so-called loyalists, as the Donegall Road is a staunchly loyalist area.

Which begs the question, where was the outrage from the likes of Ruth Dudley Edwards, Eoghan Harris, Eilís O’Hanlon and all the rest of the mouthpieces and apologists for the loyalist cause in the so-called ‘Irish’ media? All suddenly gone dumb?

And where is the condemnation from the likes of Robinson, Paisley, Trimble and Donaldson? Of course, if it was the IRA or INLA who had carried out these terrible attacks, there would have been pages of condemnation and editorials in the ‘Irish’ media, and torrents of condemnation from unionist politicians.
