Disabled people caught in social housing trap

SOCIAL housing is beyond the reach of most people with disabilities. These barriers exist through a lack of equal employment opportunities for the disability sector.

Social housing policy is restrictive, inflexible and full of red tape. With reports showing increased homelessness among disabled people, it is time for the Government to act.

There are some 400,000 people with disabilities in Ireland, and 95% of us are effectively barred from social housing grants because we are not in full employment.
