THE Better Environment and Safer Telecommunications (BEST) group commends Kerry County Council for its stance on keeping phone masts at a safe distance from the human population, thus protecting their health and safety.

It is refreshing to see a county council put its people before the large profits telecommunications companies enjoy.

The Black Valley has been used as a scaremongering ploy by the telecommunications companies in an effort to undermine the guidelines in Kerry County Council's development plan, particularly in relation to the 1km restriction on phone masts being located near dwellings.
