Ripple effect of concert hall toilet
The function of a concert hall is to provide concerts and whatever other essential basic human needs are necessary, such as a toilet.
The women’s and men’s toilets are situated adjacent to each other in a public corridor beside a foyer.
The women’s toilet is totally inadequate and they have to queue - sometimes over 20 at a time - in a corridor outside their toilet.
This has been going on for years, so recently I went over to the desk in the foyer and spoke to the lady in charge: “why do ladies have to queue in the public corridor to use their loo?”
She explained that this was a very old building, extra space was impossible to find, but all would be solved in three years when UCD vacated the rest of the building.
Imagine a woman waiting three years to spend a penny! Yet despite this, there is ample room to provide a restaurant for after-concert dinners. Imagine a restaurant having priority over a toilet. A rest your aunt!
A restaurant is not essential - toilets are. There are restaurant facilities available across the road in the Hilton Hotel and all over the city.
Women who go to the concert hall have two choices if they wish to avoid the indignity of having to queue in public gaze in a corridor prior to using their toilet - they can use the toilet facilities of the Hilton Hotel or wear a nappy!
