Campaign vital in tackling A&E crisis

I AM delighted that the Irish Nurses Organisation (INO) has endorsed the commencement of the second phase of its A&E Enough is Enough campaign.

Campaign vital in tackling A&E crisis

This will involve: the mobilisation of the full trade union movement through a campaign organised by ICTU; the resistance to any attempt to place extra beds in already overcrowded and understaffed in-patient wards/units in the interests of patient care and infection control; the nationwide lobbying of public representatives by INO branches and the correlation and publishing of their responses; the investigation of whether a patient’s human rights are being violated when placed in an overcrowded area without privacy and dignity; and any other measures deemed appropriate by the INO executive council to ensure the elimination of this blight on our public health service.

The two most important planks of the campaign &are “the mobilisation of the full trade union movement” and “the resistance to any attempt to place extra beds in already overcrowded and understaffed in-patient wards/units.
