Bush’s critics enjoy the freedom to speak out

In what way is he personally so afflicted as to find living in present-day America an "almost unbearable cross?"

These are rhetorical questions, of course, because the answer is obvious. He refers to the kidnapping and torture of Muslim men and "possibly" women and children. Of course the latter is possible, but the suggestion itself is made to throw the worst possible light on the American prosecution of the war.
