AIDS control by self-control: let’s spend wisely
Ireland Aid has undoubtedly helped many people in the developing world, but I feel that some of the money spent by the Government on HIV/AIDS in the developing world could be put to better use.
I believe that we must encourage people to avoid the kind of promiscuous behaviour which puts them at risk of contracting AIDS, rather than simply trying to mitigate the risk of infection afterwards by handing out condoms. The large failure rate of condoms in preventing the spread of HIV must also be borne in mind: 10%-15%.
