Junketeers should be ashamed of themselves

HAVE our politicians no sense of duty to their homeland (Irish Examiner, March 10)? Have they no honour and respect for the voters or themselves?

If American politicians left the United States on the Fourth of July, or if French politicians left France on Bastille Day, they would be put out of office - and rightly so.

Yet our elected leaders will run away on March 17 and then come back as if they have done nothing wrong and carrying no guilty feeling of shame as they take the tax-paying citizens of this state to the cleaners.

I am not having a go at one or two people or certain parties.

I am condemning the whole rotten system from town halls to Dáil Eireann.

We are told there is no money for our hospitals and no money for our schools. Yet there is money for politicians and their families to travel all over the world every St Patrick’s Day. This is a scandal.
