Put torture pictures on the inside pages

I WISH to speak out against the use of graphic images of violence on the front pages of newspapers.

I was appalled by the evidence of humiliation of Iraqi detainees by their captors.

Such treatment can only engender more hatred and separatism.

I was also appalled that such images were displayed on the front of newspapers, including your own. There is a watershed on television for good reason.

Newspapers are often sold on the bottom shelves in shops within easy eyesight of children. Children should not be subjected to such imagery.

Exposure of injustice is important and should be covered.

Our children should also be protected and until newspapers are stacked high out of their sight, violent images of torture and humiliation should remain off the front pages.
