Why Galway ‘gave it away’ to the Rebels

AS you know the centre of Cork has been renovated for the Capital of Culture 2005 and is now in magnificent condition.

In stark contrast, you may also have noticed from media reports that the centre of Galway is like a building site.

The sad fact is that the contractors, after a dispute with the city council, walked away leaving us with no fit place in which to receive the hurling team when they came back from Dublin with the MacCarthy Cup.
