I WAS saddened

He takes issue with the fact that a maternity unit is to be opened in Dublin for asylum seekers and draws a connection between the resources needed for the funding of services for asylum seekers and the paucity of such services to Irish people, as in the recent tragic Monaghan case.

I disagree with this simplistic analysis of the present state of our health services: the fact is that the health service was severely under-funded and mismanaged over many years, and certainly before the recent arrival of new communities in Ireland.
