Drivers still defying mobile phones ban

AN ‘accident waiting to happen’ is a well-worn cliché. Nevertheless, many accidents are inevitable and occur on roundabouts because drivers using mobile phones are unable to give proper signals.

The Pouladuff/Tramore roundabout in Cork is a typical example.

Drivers, particularly those of commercial vehicles, exit the South Link road, use their phones as they approach the roundabout and, if taking a right turn, can’t give a signal.
